Silvarith Quintho Hotel Interior

Our Story

More than just rooms and services - we're talking about a place that's been shaped by real people, genuine moments, and a whole lot of heart over the years.

Where It All Started

Back in '87, Margaret and Thomas Silvarith had this wild idea - they wanted to create a place that didn't feel like your typical stuffy hotel. Something different, y'know? They took over this old heritage building on Granville and spent almost two years renovating it, putting in touches that made it feel more like visiting a friend's really nice house than checking into a hotel.

The name? Well, that's a blend of their family name and "Quintho" - which Thomas liked to say meant "the fifth element" (he was always a bit philosophical). They figured hospitality was that missing element that turns a building into something special.

Fast forward to today, and we've kept that same energy alive. Sure, we've updated things here and there - nobody wants ancient Wi-Fi, right? But the core idea's still the same: treating guests like actual people, not room numbers.

The Journey

Moments That Made Us

1987

The Beginning

Margaret and Thomas opened the doors with just 12 suites. The first guest? A jazz musician who ended up staying for three months and still sends us Christmas cards.

1995

Growing Pains

Expanded to 28 suites after buying the adjacent building. Also added our restaurant - which started because guests kept asking where to get a decent meal at midnight.

2003

The Spa Years

Opened our wellness center. Funny story - it was supposed to be more meeting rooms, but Margaret decided everyone needed a place to actually relax. Best decision ever, honestly.

2012

New Generation

The founders' daughter Elena took over as Managing Director. Brought fresh ideas while keeping the soul of the place intact - not an easy balance, but she nailed it.

2019

Modern Touch

Full renovation of all suites with smart tech and eco-friendly everything. Still kept the original crown moldings though - some things are sacred around here.

What We're Actually About

Look, we could throw around fancy words about "excellence" and "commitment" all day. But here's the real deal - we just want you to feel good when you're here.

That means the front desk staff who remember your name after one visit. The housekeeping team that knows you prefer extra pillows. The concierge who'll give you actual local recommendations, not just tourist traps.

We're not trying to be the biggest or the flashiest. We're trying to be the place you think of when you want to feel taken care of. Pretty simple when you break it down.

Our Approach

Why We Do Things Differently

You won't find us trying to be everything to everyone. We've got 28 suites, not 200. That's on purpose. It means we can actually remember stuff about you - like how you take your coffee or that you prefer a higher floor.

We don't have a call center somewhere overseas. When you call, you're talking to someone who's actually standing in the hotel right now. They can see if it's raining, they know what's happening in the restaurant tonight, they can help you for real.

And yeah, we cost a bit more than some places. But that's because we're paying our staff properly, using quality stuff, and taking time to get things right. It's just how we roll.
